> ## Agent Instructions
> To search or read these docs, connect the Ringg docs MCP server at https://docs.ringg.ai/mcp (no key needed; tools search_ringg_ai and query_docs_filesystem_ringg_ai) instead of browsing pages one by one. Setup for each client: https://docs.ringg.ai/resources/mcp-server/docs-mcp-server/mcp-for-ai-assistants.md
> The dashboard labels agents "Assistants"; these docs say "agent". Both mean the same object, identified by agent_id.
> API base URL: https://prod-api.ringg.ai/ca/api/v0. Send the workspace API key in the X-API-KEY header, from server-side code only.
> Placing a call dials a real phone number and spends credits. Confirm the number with the user before calling.
> To act on a Ringg workspace (place calls, edit agents, read transcripts), use the separate Ringg workspace MCP server at https://mcp.ringg.ai/mcp: https://docs.ringg.ai/resources/mcp-server/workspace-mcp-server/overview.md

# Lesson: Test it

> Place a test call from the EMI reminder agent to your own number with variables filled in, verify the number once, then read the transcript in Logs.

**Part 2: Building your first agent · Lesson 4 of 4 · 15 minutes**

## Objective

Hear Ananya on your own phone with the prompt, voice and speed from the last two lessons, then find the call in Logs and read its transcript.

## The scenario

Before Ananya calls a customer, she calls you. You play Rahul Verma, with your own first name in the variables. A test call is a real call to your phone and spends credits like any other call; this one lasts about a minute.

## Hands-on

<Frame caption="Testing an agent with a phone call in the dashboard">
  <video alt="Testing an agent with a phone call in the dashboard" aria-label="Testing an agent with a phone call in the dashboard" controls muted playsInline className="w-full rounded-xl" style={{ aspectRatio: "16 / 10" }} preload="metadata" controlsList="nodownload noremoteplayback" poster="/media/agents-test/poster.webp">
    <source src="https://mintcdn.com/ringgai-0da73d20/zhzhS2waLZvF8qXk/media/agents-test/video.webm?fit=max&auto=format&n=zhzhS2waLZvF8qXk&q=85&s=d4c393452470e4a20e552dbff9b86739" type="video/webm; codecs=&#x22;av01.0.09M.08&#x22;" data-path="media/agents-test/video.webm" />
  </video>
</Frame>

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the test dialog">
    In the editor's top bar, click **Test assistant**. If you see **Discard** and **Save** instead, save first. The dialog is titled **Test EMI reminder - Hindi** and has three tabs; stay on **Phone call**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose the caller number">
    Under **Choose a number**, the list is grouped into **Test numbers**, **Your numbers** and **In use**, and a Ringg test number is picked by default when one is available. Test numbers are region-bound: the +91 one calls only Indian numbers, so for a phone outside India pick another test number or one of your own.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter your own number">
    In **Callee number**, enter a phone you can answer, in international format such as `+91 98765 4xxxx`. The hint reads "Use a number you control for testing. Don't use customer numbers."
  </Step>

  <Step title="Fill in the variables">
    The tab shows one field per custom variable. Enter your own first name as the callee name; `mobile_number` is filled from **Callee number**. Leave **Smart formatter** off.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Start and verify">
    Click **Start**. The first time you call a number, Ringg sends a 6-digit code to it on WhatsApp and opens **Verify number**: enter the code and the call is placed straight away. The number is then remembered for the workspace. Workspaces that have completed company details (<Tooltip tip="Know your customer: the business verification Ringg needs before some calls.">KYC</Tooltip>) skip this screen.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Answer and talk to Ananya">
    The dialog shows the call's status, and **Call details** lists the variables sent. Answer, confirm it is you, and give a payment date when she asks. There is no hang-up button, so end the call from your phone; **Redial** places it again.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Find the call in Logs">
    Open **Monitor → Logs**, or **History** in the agent's row menu for only Ananya's calls, and click the call. The call panel has the recording, **Call details** lists the **Custom variables** the call received, and **Transcript** has the conversation turn by turn. For a short while you may see "General analysis is currently under process!".
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Checkpoint

<Check>
  Your phone rings, Ananya speaks the first message with your name in the voice you chose, and when the call ends it appears in Logs with a transcript that shows her stating ₹4,500 due on 15 October and asking for a date.
</Check>

## Exercise

Click **Redial** and, when Ananya greets you, answer in Hindi. Expected result: she switches to Hindi, because Hindi is her secondary language. Read that call's **Transcript** in Logs afterwards.

## What you learned

* **Test assistant** places a real call, charged like any other, from a test number or your own; the callee is verified once by WhatsApp code unless your workspace has completed KYC.
* The variable fields in the dialog let you test the prompt with realistic values before a customer hears it.
* Every test call lands in Logs with its recording, variables and transcript; judge the prompt there.

<Quiz
  question="Your colleague in Dubai wants to hear Ananya on their own phone. The test dialog has the +91 Ringg test number selected by default. What do you do?"
  answers={[
{ text: "Keep the default; test numbers call any country", correct: false },
{ text: "Pick another test number or one of your own numbers, because test numbers are region-bound", correct: true },
{ text: "Enter the number without a country code so Ringg routes it", correct: false },
{ text: "Switch to the Live chat tab; phone tests only work in India", correct: false },
]}
  correctFeedback="Right. Test numbers are region-bound: the +91 one calls only Indian numbers. For a phone outside India pick a test number for that region or one of your own, and enter the callee in international format."
  incorrectFeedback="Not quite. The +91 test number calls only Indian numbers, so a phone outside India needs another test number or one of your own. The callee number is always in international format."
